Scripture: John 17:1-11
As Jesus prepares the disciples for the end of their time together, he takes actions and speaks teachings, and then he does something incredible: he prays for the disciples. He makes it clear that he's praying for his disciples with him there and all who would come to be disciples. And he says a big, hairy, audacious prayer for them and us.
It's one thing to have your pastor and your friends pray for you, but what impact does it make to know that Jesus Christ, the Messiah, also prays for you?

Pastor Clay and Eric met up to discuss all the fun we had on Camp Sunday and Pastor Clay's message about Simon's sudden name change in Matthew's Gospel. Jesus changes a part of Simon's identity and speaks destiny over his life. But Jesus is simply following in God's footsteps as names changed as a sign of covenantal promises. What impact does Jesus calling you by a different name make? You are a beloved child of God!

We had a fun day in worship featuring all kinds of music from our Chi Alpha kids and other inspiration for summer church camp. Because of the way the timing worked out, Pastor Clay preached a version of his sermon during worship but wanted to share the full message here. What impact does your name have on you? How does your outlook change knowing that Jesus calls you by name and calls you a "beloved child of God"?

Eric and Pastor Clay had fun discussing the lighter moments of worship from Sunday, including Pastor Clay's story about driving to the 1812 Overture and Eric's hints and tricks for driving across North Dakota. They also dug into a card that was placed in every bulletin inviting us to pray that God would open up space for us to invite someone to share the road on which our faith journeys happen. How will God use you to invite someone to share the road?
