Camp Sunday
We had a fun day in worship featuring all kinds of music from our Chi Alpha kids and other inspiration for summer church camp. Because of the way the timing worked out, Pastor Clay preached a version of his sermon during worship but wanted to share the full message here. What impact does your name have on you? How does your outlook change knowing that Jesus calls you by name and calls you a "beloved child of God"?

Eric and Pastor Clay had fun discussing the lighter moments of worship from Sunday, including Pastor Clay's story about driving to the 1812 Overture and Eric's hints and tricks for driving across North Dakota. They also dug into a card that was placed in every bulletin inviting us to pray that God would open up space for us to invite someone to share the road on which our faith journeys happen. How will God use you to invite someone to share the road?

The disciples begin the morning defeated and bewildered after all that has happened in Jerusalem. But an unknown guest along the road helps them understand more, and when it's revealed that their travel companion is Jesus, their hearts are revived. With their newly-revived hearts they share the news of Jesus' resurrection. What will you do with a heart revived in the breaking of bread?

Until Mary changes everything by anointing Jesus' feet. She shows her love and care for Jesus; how can we show that same love and care as we go through this week?

We find Jesus in scripture today where we left him last week: as the guest at the table of an unnamed Pharisee. Sometime tries to restore some order after Jesus chastised the guests and the host, but Jesus would rather teach the group about the nature of God's kingdom. He tells a parable about a meal where all the "right" people are full of excuses and all the "wrong" people get fed. How do we respond to God's invitation to be a part of the Kingdom?
