Welcome to another episode of the Cut for Time Podcast! Eric is back from his week off, and he and Pastor Clay break down what went into having a video/podcast version of the sermon during a very full worship service of great special music. We had a great day in worship with nine different music specials and a baptism. Due to all we had going on, Pastor Clay chose to share his message via video later in the day. On the second Sunday in Advent focused around peace, we are going to dig into what kind of peace Jesus brings. It is not a shaky peace or a "holiday peace" but rather a lasting and just peace. What does that look like and what role do we play in bringing Jesus' just peace? Let's explore together.

The season of Advent is upon us, and as one of our favorite songs proclaims, "Now the waiting has begun." But what are we waiting for? Are we waiting for a historical remembrance of things that have happened or are we waiting for something more? We have a shocking and risky hope that Advent is bigger than we initially think.

Cut for Time: But Really, Who is the King?

Sunday was Christ the King Sunday, and the idea of kingship is one we need to return to from time to time. It is so easy to say Christ is the king; it is another thing to live like Jesus is the king. In their conversation this week, Pastor Clay and Eric discuss what it means for Jesus to be king and confess what things they try to make king above Jesus. Who really is the king of your life?

On this last day of the church year, before the first Sunday of Advent, we celebrate Christ the King Sunday. But when was the first Christ the King Sunday? What was going on in the world that made it necessary? Pastor Clay the Church Nerd is here to help us understand and draw some parallels from the time of the Apostle Paul, the time of Pope Pius XI, and our modern day. Let us be reminded that Jesus was the king in the beginning, will be the king in the end, and even now He is king.

Series: Legacy

On this final week of our legacy series, we take a look at what the foundation of our legacy truly is and what can happen when we build the right kind of legacy. Corinth was a church that was building a legacy based on themselves, but Paul was calling them to aim higher. In our own lives, we can try to build a basis for a legacy on some human endeavor, but that only lasts as long as the endeavor does. The legacy Paul is calling all of us to build is a legacy that will last, a legacy that will bring forth the kingdom of God. Are we committed to that kind legacy?

Scripture: Matthew 26:6-13

Series: Legacy

Today's scripture gives us two distinct examples of what a legacy can be. One is an extravagant expression of love and devotion to Jesus; the other is one of judgement and criticism. Sometimes, whether we want to admit it or not, it is more likely that our legacy could be the second one, but what would it look like to stop at nothing to show devotion to Jesus and go over the top to show our love for Him?
